Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and commentator. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a master's degree of English literature. Mitchell began as a radio and TV reporter for Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. She became a reporter for the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP), in Washington DC. She became a Washington general reporter to NBC News two years later. The year 1980 marked the beginning of her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the principal journalist for Congress. She was appointed the Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News. Mitchell hosted and was panelists on the TV program Meet the Press. She was on the panel during the 1988 presidential debates in the debate between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 for her role to protect First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began reporting on the White House in 1981-1988, and during the presidency of Ronald Reagan. Mitchell covered a range of interesting stories such as arms control the budget tax reform as well as the Iran-contra scandal. She also traveled extensively together with the president Reagan for summits with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world top leaders.
